Walled City

Steeped in history, the City is the only remaining completely walled city in Ireland and one of the finest Walled Cities in Europe. The Walls were built during from 1613-1618 by the honorable, the Irish Society as a defense from England and Scotland. They are approximately 1.5km in circumference and form a beautiful walkway around the inner city overlooking wonderful local attractions including the Bogside and Fountain areas of the city.
