Green Tourism. Friendly and eco-friendly Policy!

We have been working hard to become an eco-friendlier business. Measures are in place throughout the Best Western Plus White Horse Hotel to conserve resources and run a cleaner, greener operation to benefit our local community and our planet. All while ensuring guests enjoy the highest standards of comfort.

  • We exceed all environmental legislations and codes of practice and have taken steps to reduce waste, pollution, noise and use of fuels and raw materials.
  • We recycle all cardboard, glass, and paper in our local recycle plant. We have invested heavily in LED lighting to reduce our carbon footprint.
  • Steps include recycling, minimising paper use, water conservation, choosing water based cleaning products, using local suppliers whenever possible and saving energy through sensible lighting and fuel use and no TV’s or PCs left on standby
  • We encourage guests and staff to share our commitment. We have our own Green Team who shape our Green Action Plan and ensure we are environmentally aware every day. We welcome suggestions to help us improve.
  • We support the activities of local organisations and businesses working to protect and enhance our local environment.

How can we do even better?

We continue to review our Green Action to see how we can do more. Recent Steps:

  • Working with suppliers to minimising packaging
  • Introducing more Fair-Trade products
  • Seeking ways to recycle more

How can you help?

Our visitors have a key role in helping us conserve the North Wests natural assets and become a more sustainable destination. So, we encourage you to do your bit, when you are staying with us, and when you are out and about in this beautiful country. Little things like switching off lights, being water wise, respecting the landscape by not littering, and giving the car a rest as you explore the area all make a difference.

If you feel there is anything else, we can be doing to reduce our environmental impact, please let us know. Have a wonderful time when you are here. We would like you to come back!
